We would like to offer a huge congratulations to Team Sky who have claimed the sixth Tour de France win for Team GB in seven years yesterday. We've been following the Tour de France quite religiously at Blue Bay Homes as our director, Gary Evans, rode all 118 miles of the Grand Depart in aid of Prostate Cancer UK earlier this year. For more information on Gary's story, as well as his comments on the challenges of the ride, click here.
As for the result of the Tour de France, Geraint Thomas, a Welshman (of course!), secured victory with a one minute 51 second advantage over Tom Dumolin of the Netherlands, with the four-time champion Christopher Froome (Team Sky / GB) coming in third to complete the podium.

- Here's the basic principle of betting odds explained. Betting odds are based on the probability of occurrence. This means you can typically work out ho much money you'll be paid out for a winning bet, before the bet has been placed. For example: if you're betting at 4/1 odds, for every £1 you bet, you will win £4.
Thomas Steven Burket, born 15 December 1982, died 08 September 2008 in Tyngsboro, Massachusetts Our Remembrance My husband Thomas was a very loving and caring man, who had a Passion for taking care of animals. He enjoyed playing football, LaCrosse, spending time with our two dogs CJ and Mason and sitting talking with his sister Sara. One thing I've learned through all the ups and downs is that if you're doing things right, then you have a core group of people. Not just a core group like your homies or your buddies, but a group of people that has a good influence on you, who you respect and admire, and you know that if they're on your side, you're doing something right.
Geraint Thomas crossed the finish line arm-in-arm with teammate Christopher Froome, after an arduous three weeks of racing. His journey to win the Tour de France had not been an easy one.
Geraint went down during the final descent of the Olympic Road Race in 2016, went down twice at the Tour de France 2017, and also the Giro d'Italia in that year.
If anything, Geraint has had a series of issues to overcome on his journey which would normally signal the end for very many riders.
Riding royalty Sir Dave Brailsford described Geraint Thomas as a rider who could do anything, but someone that seemed destined to ride to support others due to this.
Indeed, Geraint Thomas showed remarkable strength and resolve in this position, helping teammate Chris Froome to the podium in Paris three times, (once riding for a gruelling 20 days with a fractured pelvis) to help his teammate secure victory.
We're so very pleased for Geraint, as he's living, breathing proof that hard work and dedication are all you need in order to succeed – and he's a real inspiration for all of us.

His teammate Chris Froome, playing catch-up after early setbacks on the Tour, came in third on the day and moved into second overall, 85 seconds behind Thomas. For Thomas, it was only a second career stage win at the Tour.
'I just felt good today, I followed my instincts,' Thomas said after the stage.

Geraint Thomas Odds Against
These fierce peaks threw a wrench in former yellow-jersey holder Greg Van Avermaet's race — he lost contact with the leading riders around the half-way stage and finished well adrift.
Early Tour leader Van Avermaet will not be in yellow on Thursday
Several other top contenders suffered difficult days in the blistering sun. Spain's Alejandro Valverde attacked but couldn't sustain his charge, ultimately finishing 3:30 off the pace, and Britain's Adam Yates rolled in almost 5 minutes after Thomas. Last year's Tour runner-up, Rigoberto Uran, finished 26 minutes behind — effectively killing off any hopes he might have held of another podium finish.
Mark Cavendish, meanwhile, failed to finish the stage quickly enough and is therefore eliminated from the Tour. He dropped behind early on, eventually even losing touch with the trailing grupetto behind the peloton. He then struggled to keep pace without the aid of rival riders nearby. Similarly, Germany's Marcel Kittel dropped out of the race on Wednesday, after coming in more than half an hour off the pace.
